Better than flowers. A painting of the pet they loved, made from a photograph you choose together.
Send as a surprise or share the preview with the family first. We work at your pace, not on a holiday-rush schedule.

A handful of friends, partners, and family members have sent these to households that just lost a companion. Their words below.

“Bruno passed in March. Having him painted like this changed how the room feels. Quiet, dignified. Thank you.”

“Saskia is fifteen and the friendliest creature I have ever known. She gets a regalia portrait. She deserves it.”

“I cried a little when it arrived. Marcel looks like a small king. The frame is heavier than I expected, in a good way.”
We will remake it or refund. Your choice. A sympathy gift gets the gentlest version of our policy. The family should never have to argue with us, and you should not have to argue on their behalf.

We were sitting in our favorite dog café in Amsterdam when my partner pulled a book off the shelf. Dog, by Tein Lucasson. We turned the pages and stopped on a portrait that felt like every serious painting we'd ever loved. Except it was a dog. We looked at each other and said the same thing. We need this at home.
Nothing like it existed for our own dog. Zola is a small, serious princess of a creature, and no studio would paint her in that register. So we built one. My background is in AI images. Ours is a love of dogs, and one in particular.
We named the studio Maison Zola because Zola already runs the house. The rest of us just live in it.

Ask the family for one. A single photo, taken in good light, with the head and shoulders clearly visible. If they have several, send the one they reach for first. The studio scores every upload and tells you if a different shot would produce a better portrait.
Yes. We hold the portrait at our atelier until you confirm the recipient address. You can keep it as a surprise or you can send a preview to the family first and let them choose the style. Both work.
We include a small typeset card with the order. Send us a sentence or two and we will set it for you, or leave it blank and write it yourself. The portrait does most of the talking.
Yes. The likeness is traced from the photograph. Eyes, markings, ears, the parts that made them them. If something is off, we redo it.
An archival fine art print from $49. Gallery canvas from $299. Framed canvas from $399. Free worldwide shipping. We will not rush a sympathy order to meet an arbitrary deadline.
Standard delivery is 4 to 7 business days in the US, 5 to 10 in the UK, 7 to 14 internationally. Express is available at checkout. The atelier prefers to take time with these.
Tell us within thirty days. We will remake the portrait or refund the order. Your choice. We never put a family in a replacement loop, and a sympathy gift gets the gentlest version of that policy.
We keep it for thirty days so we can re-render or fulfil an order, then we delete it. The family can ask us to delete sooner from the order page.
A free preview, kept on screen for as long as you'd like. Send it when you're ready.
